What is Ethnovation?

We conducted an Ethnovation Session at one of the world's largest creativity conference.

Ethnographic Insight + Innovation = Ethnovation: Conducting great research is just a start. We design many projects to include an Ethnovative component where we bring the consumer video into creativity sessions so new ideas, insights and strategy are informed by consumer reality. We edit and produce consumer documentaries that can be used to stimulate change, generate new product ideas, and help move marketing initiatives forward.

Media Bins: On-Site has generated a unique way to organize multimedia research data into themed bins that help companies utilize and mine their ethnographic research quickly and easily. These bins include the specific movie clips and stills from many different study participants that refer to a specific insights or topic. These bins are provided to the client for use during the research process and into the future. Some of the ways our clients use their media bins include:

  • New Product Idea Generation
  • Advertising Development
  • Social Media Campaigns
  • YouTube Videos
  • Website Videos
  • Blog Content

    Harry Thomas

    Senior Ethnovation Facilitator

Harry designs Ethnovation sessions to fit your goals and ensure that the information gleaned from the ethnographic study is integrated into your corporate knowledge banks.

These sessions usually start with a multimedia presentation of the study findings tailored to the team work to be conducted. Then, the teams break out and work with the actual media bins from the study to generate new ideas, product innovations, advertising and marketing strategies that are rooted in a deep understanding of consumer reality.

On-Site has teamed with Harry because of his ten-plus years experience with his own company, MarketingHat, and his experience conducting innovation sessions with companies such as Del Monte, T-Mobile, and packaged goods brands like Betty Crocker.
